Proclamation Series: Being Utterly Wasted

I reeealllly don't want to be utterly you?  It doesn't even sound fun.  And I really don't want my life or the life of my family to be an utter waste of time...tampoco...that is Spanish for "that either" ...I still think in Spanish sometimes from my mission.

But according to Doctrine and Covenants 2 ..check out the 3 verses  {here}  that could happen if we don't take advantage of saving ordinances and covenants available in holy temples.
my temple
This scripture keeps coming back to me again ....and again...and again....I have written about this before....and I can't help myself to do it again....IT IS THAT IMPORTANT!!

How important??

Well, let's just so it is so important that it is the ONLY scripture found in ALL the standard works.  Yep.  All of them.  Here are the other references because I know that is what you were thinking next..

Old Testament: Malachi 4:5-6
New Testament:Luke 1:17, Matthew 17:11
Book of Mormon: 3 Nephi 25:5,6
Pearl of Great Price: Joseph Smith-History 1:38, 39

In the New Testament Elijah is referred to as Elias( Greek version of the Hebrew name Elijah) who they were looking for to "come and restore all things"  -those words to me are filled with so much power and faith.  I love it!

Elijah was the last prophet who held the sealing power of the Melchizedek Priesthood.  He appeared with Moses and others on April 3 1836 to confer these same powers upon Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery. This was an essential, vital, very important event that was all in preparation of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

As I mentioned earlier, the sealing ordinance and other covenants available in holy us.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World was written in a great effort to save the family and teach us, guide and even warn us

It is basically a  handbook on how to be strong families while on the earth and eternal families after this life.  Studying, following, and living the principles in the family proclamation will bring us the greatest joy we can know.

President Henry B. Eyring spoke about this in the priesthood session of conference in his talk, Families under Covenant.  Don't you just love that title?!

"At the coming of Elijah, not only was power given to the priesthood, but also hearts were to be turned: “The spirit, power, and calling of Elijah is, that ye have power to hold the key of the revelation, ordinances, oracles, powers and endowments of the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood and of the kingdom of God on the earth; and to receive, obtain, and perform all the ordinances belonging to the kingdom of God, even unto the turning of the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the hearts of the children unto the fathers, even those who are in heaven.”7
"There is nothing that has come or will come into your family as important as the sealing blessings. There is nothing more important than honoring the marriage and family covenants you have made or will make in the temples of God.

The way to do that is clear. The Holy Spirit of Promise, through our obedience and sacrifice, must seal our temple covenants in order to be realized in the world to come. President Harold B. Lee explained what it means to be sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise by quoting Elder Melvin J. Ballard: “We may deceive men but we cannot deceive the Holy Ghost, and our blessings will not be eternal unless they are also sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. The Holy Ghost is one who reads the thoughts and hearts of men, and gives his sealing approval to the blessings pronounced upon their heads. Then it is binding, efficacious, and of full force.”8
