Proclamation Series: Eve -the First "Mother Who Knew"

....Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.

....All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of heavenly parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose.

.          ...The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife.
....Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord”

.....The family is ordained of God

This morning in our family scripture study we read this scripture:

2 Nephi 2:25 "aAdam bfell that men might be; and men care, that they might have djoy."
I took advantage of this moment to teach my daughters about one of the first "mothers who knew

To me Eve was the most beautiful, the strongest, the ultimate "mother who knows" of all time.

She knew and she fell...that we might  be and have joy.

"There is no language that could do credit to our glorious Mother Eve"
"Christ and Mary, Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah and a host of mighty men and equally glorious women composed that group of 'the noble and great on es,' to whom the Lord Jesus said:  'We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these material, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell"
"From this statement we learn that Eve was at Michael's side before the foundations of the earth were set in place.  Further, Eve's role was vital, for she was actively engaged in the planning and preparations that would shape our sphere..  she was one of those "taking the materials and making the earth" (see Abraham 4)
After God had created the world, all the creatures who were to dwell thereon, and Adam himself, He was ready for the ultimate and most perfect of His creations.
"Then as His final creation, the crowing of His glorious work, He created woman.  I like to regard Eve as His masterpiece after all that had gone before, the final work before He rested from His labors." President Gordon B Hinckley
"Eve...the last created being in the creation of the world, without whom the whole creation of the world and all that was in the world would have been in vain and the purposes of God have come to naught." President J. Reuben Clark
"The plan is not based on chance, nor on accident.  It is based on purpose." President Boyd K. Packer
"Only when she and Adam were freed from the confining transitional state of the Garden of Eden could Eve be about her mission"
